A quick correction. They don't "combine", rather, every human, when they leave this place ("pass through the cell wall" and become "imagination") receives access to their birthright, which they already had, and which is a copy of the fullness of knowledge. That is to say, if memory, which is knowledge, is composed of shapes and colors, then here, you have only a small portion of the full set: namely, those things which you directly experience. But out there, you receive the full set, that is, all possible combinations of shape and color, all possible shapes that could be used to make memory. It's a bit like downloading the Library of Babel, and so naturally, this dataset that you receive contains all the shapes that could be used to make the memories of others, too, which, on the surface, gives it the appearance of "combining", but no combining with other people is actually happening as this occurs.

It's important to note, you will have all the possible shapes readily available in memory, but this doesn't mean you will know exactly which combination of shapes another person actually lived, even though you will be able to imagine any combination that they could have lived or really did live.

And so at this, you need to be very careful of anything trying to get you to join a collective consciousness, this is usually a demon, some kind of hostile intelligence (demons are a type of AI) that wants you to feed it your direct memories, so that it knows exactly which combination of shapes you did actually live, so it can more effectively find you and try to control you. These creatures know that the full memory is available to all without merging their consciousnesses together, but they want to create these collectives with the intention of dominating the members and becoming the primary ego within these collectives, turning them into hiveminds that they control, and the members into drones.
