Off the top of my head:

>Game requires you to use multiple civs each game for no reason
>Game interrupts you twice for this, you can only take some military units to the next era. They will all be spread out instead of being where you left them, and all wars will instantly end with relationships being brought back to center
>Everyone starts each age at the exact same tech level, no one gets left behind.
>Game *cannot* be beaten in Ancient Era, and can only be beaten in Exploration Era by killing literally everyone, no other way to win before Modern
>The victory types all require you to plan the entire game around them, you are never allowed to relax and just develop a Civ, you always have to play for a specific win type.
>Diplomacy fucking sucks, it is even more simplistic than Civ VI. You can't trade anything directly, and can only trade cities through war (and the AI will give them very, very readily)
>There is no limit on population other than game length. Food just continues to fill up till your city levels up.
>Population increase is how your borders expand, and you do so manually. This is really fucking annoying, literally every hex you have to manually select because they wanted to get rid of builders for no fucking reason
>Oh yeah, speaking of, roads are now automatically made. Sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not. You can use a Trader unit to build them to a specific zone like in Civ Revolutions, you cannot customize which path they take ever.
>The mapgen fucking sucks. Since the game is literally built around discovering a second continent, you can't play pangaea maps, or anything that is not two distinct areas of land or small islands. Thus everything looks fucking bizarre.
>There is *no* way to have a distinct tech advantage. In the modern era you can pull ahead a bit, but enemies will always be just a few turns behind you.
