Hell no. Do a swarmer like peasant militia or manhunters if you want to experiment with builds and don't mind losing/ditching people. Alternatively northern raiders is by far the easiest one. You don't want a challenge run with an instant fail condition and a smaller roster if you're struggling past raiders ffs.

Waste of points if you don't go nimble. If you're working with crap bros that may or may not live long dodge gives you way more bang for your buck. Having competent decent mdef shield masters that can rotate in and taunt or boink enemies away saves lives.

Absolutely not. Unless you enjoy having your underleveled people have no fatigue and stand around getting their shit pushed in. Raider chain gear into shit you've picked up from professional troops such as footman mail is more than enough until you decide to hunt for named light armors or your plated warfoged bros that actually lift and whatnot.

Decent dudes cost an arm and a leg. Learn to work with shitters and you'll excel when you get to afford muh hedgeknights and such. You won't feel bad when they 'retire' either.

The most retarded shit I've seen yet. A naked 50 ratt light crossbow fag with fast adaptation will do more than half your early roster. Including making enemies without actual archers come to you. A line of 70+ will clear anything short of heavily shielded enemies and they ideally have polearms as well. A bowfag or 2 with 70-90 will decimate most shit until well into super late game.
