I don't care about post-apoc, that's been done poorly to death.
Spooky/goth, or more properly Horror: we always need more of as they barely exist.

Those are about it for quality RPG titles that even approach actual horror, sad state of affairs in 2025.

The also rans:

Horror has so much going against it, it's not conducive to stats go up environments of power fantasy, and devs fail often enough at simple drama in the first place, taking the easy way out of reddit 4th wall quips, or sterile derivatives of jrpgs, or pet diversity/leftist propaganda "philosophy" projects. Good horror is like the difficulty of drama cubed if you want to do it right and avoid falling into the above traps, or being lame and cringey. This is beyond the literary talents of most modern game designers.

I could be charitable and include games with a darker atmosphere like D2, D4, Last Epoch and Grim Dawn, but the power fantasy nature of ARPG is even worse for horror.

I'm really glad this game exists, and will be giving it a chance based on that alone.
