Alright. So Chrono Cross is based on the text adventure game called "Radical Dreamers". Which is basically Serge, Kid, and Magus breaking into Viper Manor looking for the Frozen Flame. But it's a choose your own adventure that branches into different continuities. a

That's not an example from the game. But there were branching paths that involved giant robots and martians.

This is made by Squaresoft and "radical" is also the name of the "square root" symbol. √
So the team is lowkey calling themself the root, core, or heart of Squaresoft (before they merged with Enix and became a publisher). That's fraternization by the way. Not to be confused with mere socializing. But creating an "inner circle" of elites or senior members. But what are business ethics in Japan? Akira Toriyama had celebrity status, being the character designer for Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger. But allegedly he didn't do shit and people really resented the status people like him enjoyed for being so superficial. And directors like Kitase who take credit (calling it "responsibility") but don't actually know what is in their own game, or who's idea was what.

Roots, as you know, are the hidden underground structure of trees. In Chrono Cross, the tree being the Acacia Dragoon. Which included "Radius"(likely derived from Radical). "Acacia" being a type of tree. The big tree house or Hermit's Hideaway, is connected to the Acacia Dragoon origins and Radius, although we don't see much of it beyond schizo storytelling involving Kid's memory/coma/burning orphanage sequence.
