Yes, it is. The games multiple rewrites rendered the plot nonsensical. Raphael originally offered to remove your tadpole for free, with clearly ominous consequences, and that was cut and he’s just… there until late act 3. Daisy was replaced with the same thing but ~~it’s actually gay squid Balduran, you guys like Balduran right~~ and his character is nonsensical, he’s a blank slate onto which the players responses are projected. If you trust him and do what he says, he’s perfectly trustworthy and honest and does what he says, but if you mistrust him and refuse, he reveals how he’s a manipulator and liar and dominates others to get what he wants. If you free ~~Orpheus~~ the emperor willingly leaves to join up with the big bad, when the entire plot of the game is him plotting to break free and escape from the big bad. It’s fucking stupid and riddled with holes. Every companion character was rewritten from early access and made malleable and playersexual and had their backstory rewritten by focus groups to be bland. The plots almost entirely railroaded, turning against the emperor early gives you a game over. He can arbitrarily extend his protection or not (if you try to free Minsc without doing Jaheiras quest he refuses to protect Minsc, saying we can’t save everyone, but if you recruit Minsc he does protect him). I could go on. The whole thing was dumb as fuck and actively broke my immersion with how silly it was.
