Three of your party members are the one who destroy the world, *after* the game's bad guy is killed in a cutscene by his evil mastermind which you will never meet or fight in that game.

You do not gather them in the ruined world, instead you search three temples to assemble the magic items to cure the evil spirits that possessed them, which ultimately involves killing all three of them in one boss fight, then searching three other temples for other items to cure their remaining evilness.

Then one of them sacrifices himself out of guilt and you go on to assemble stuff for yet another magic ritual to heal the world, after which you're captured by the villain and thrown into Ultima 8. No big bad boss fight.

All the while, anyone else you got in your party, all of which are dismissable at will (as are the big three but they'll magically pop up for the possession scene), just carry on as usual.

That is to say, FF6 is nothing like it.
