I love DKC2 but come the fuck on, the controls are literally the opposite of what you're saying
>throwing barrels is slow, even worse with Dixie

>the speed boost you get when you roll through enemies is hard to utilize—you don't see where you're going, the roll ends abruptly, you can often get hit or fall during it, and more often than not it's just not worth it (unless you have the level memorized)
>"roll off cliff then jump" ability with Diddy is just awkward
>animal friends have "boost" (rhino, fish, etc.) that is clearly way too fast to utilize properly with that screen crunch—unless, again, you have the level memorized
>the hitboxes aren't as bad as some say, but you can never be pixel perfect with them
Now, it's not all bad—climbing ropes is snappy, flying with Dixie is cool. But you've got to be shitting me if you think these controls are so great. In fact, I think they made a wise decision to not stress test them too much. And DKC3's slower pace feels surprisingly natural with that screen crunch.
Just compare it to SMW. Throwing stuff is instant, and when you throw it you know exactly where it will go. There's no lag in your actions, you can land on tightest platforms with ease, and the amount of tricks you can do is only limited by your imagination.
