going back to basics with the boost era is a course correct that unironically saved sonic (even most of it's critics would say otherwise) while pulling back from the anime-like melodrama of the adventure era kept thing more simple and straightforward for newcomers because like >>11618059 said most original sonic villains suck and to add on to his list...
