I'm talking about raising the next generation of players,
you are talking from a veteran player's perspective that already knows all of the pitfalls.
I've lent Pikmin 4 to a 5 years old and he became fan of the series. I've watched let's plays of Pikmin 1 get discouraged and give up because they came short at the end just because it never occured to them that they had to reset if they had one/several bad day/accidents or that they had to constantly optimize their route because they didn't think "it was THAT kind of game".

Pikmin by its aesthetics is a series that is advertised towards casual players and yet is is not a casual-friendly game. Pikmin 4 finally fixed that disperacy and Pikmin finally found its audience.
