Buses are useful, I have only seen environmentalists complain that some bus lines could be much easier, effective, and environmentally friendly to be replaced with trams or trains because they are so populated lines. Tram lines were bought by car and oil corpos and dismantled so they are right about that.
Buses are good for flexibility, but a tram/train that moves much more people much faster on popular line is just economically and from environment angle much smarter. Like having a tram on main street every 5 minutes.
Cars aren't as effective without car infrastructure. That's the thing people tend to forget, especially as they take so much fucking space. Do you know how much buildings were destroyed JUST for parking space? The cars wouldn't really work unless government is ready to destroy parts of their cities so you can drive your car and park it all around it rather than leave it outside of the city and walk or take a tram/train/bus elsewhere in city.
