I feel like gestalt only offers us a glimpse at the character and shit like this is only in because the game wasnt written with him in mind and theyd change these awkward moments in a novelization or if they had more time to make the game or couldve updated it. Although i think at the same time the idea of him being kind of a bumbling idiot father is endearing like homer simpson.

Supplimental material describes him as a mercenary, his portrayal in the game vaguely fits the description

I felt like the writers at least attempted to change some of the more egregious examples of scenes totally written for brother nier in part 1 (notably excluding the were friends now scene lol). But by part two they decided hey lets leave like all the fucking dialogue the same. I felt like i was just playing a model swap mod by that point

I dont feel extra justification is needed for him to be a little bit stronger after 5 years. But i guess brother nier helping people with bs chores can be chalked up to his naivete, with papa nier it is a little weird. Doesnt really even need the extra cash now that his daughters gone
