Protip: 99% of people leave it blank because it's less work. Unless you're high school or college, yeah maybe especially if you put the phone number down and then HR person who will state that. If you somehow got unemployment and aren't meme'ing I don't know why you said it was political BS then if it was performance related. Were you on a PIP that was bullshit from some microdick manager? I can understand that. PIP's are often no win situation, but unemployment usually sides with someone who fully was hired during the time of their pip and was labeled no improvement.

Might have gotten lucky, depending on your resume and financial situation it's up to you.

If you're going to BS, I'd do "Yeah during all the economy changes I got let go, while I wasn't hurting for funds my friends explained I should seek unemployment given the voltility of the job markets with layoffs. I applied for about 2 weeks before seeing some good deals on travel and took some trips abroad real cheap before coming back to do some personal things and get back into the job market".
