Not sure what it would fix, and I'm a train guy who's used trains for business because I like trains.
Some cities have THE station across the street from the sales office I was visiting. Chicago, NYC, pretty cool. The commute from the amtrak station in Chicago to the sales office is about as long as an elevator ride, cool. Some cities have THE station a medium length taxi ride away (Milwaukee) the station neighborhood is dead but its like five minutes from civilization. Some cities seem to have the station in the middle of nowhere or surrounded closely by absolutely nothing (Minneapolis). MSP has a cool mall but its too far away to walk and the weather is always bad or its 11pm at night and its closed, and traffic is awful and its a half hour taxi to the sales office. The other sales offices require me to drive or fly there because it would just take too long. Even NYC is ridiculous I have to schedule meetings on Monday so I can leave on Friday to guarantee being there on time on monday morning, and I consider the train ride a touristy sight seeing event; my coworkers think I'm crazy just fly out at 6am on Monday morning like everyone else why "waste" my weekend on a train. Because I enjoy traveling on a train?
