Did Madrid, Toledo and Granada in Sept-October. I really loved Madrid. Great clean metro that is pretty easy to navigate. Lots of fantastic markets and I think they have some of the best museums I've been to in Europe. The National Archeological Museum is one that often slips peoples radar but has the most impressive collection of pre-roman, Celtiberian artifacts I've ever seen. The thyssen bornemisza is also fantastic and has a great chronological collection that follows various art movements through out time. Prado is more classics but the Goya's are a must see imo. I ate at Garelos in Madrid. Great Spanish food and they're on the Michelin guide. Spaniards are very proud of their food but to be quite frank much of it feels very similar and you might grow tired of jamon, huevos rotos and pinchos very quickly. I know I kind of did.

Toledo is awesome but you can do everything there in like half a day.

Granada, like others have pointed out is very touristy. If you want to stay away from that stay in the Albaicin or Sacromonte. However, keep in mind you are going to be hauling your ass up that hill everyday but at night you won't have to deal with the mass of people that are in the more modern areas. I have never seen so many people and such chaos as I did during the dinner rush in Granada. A lot of shitty restaurants there so do your research so you don't end up eating at some tourist trap. If you can get transportation the Sierra Nevadas are cool and of course the Alhambra is a must. Wish I figured this out earlier but if you hike up north of Sacromonte you'll find an abandoned monastery and great view of the city. If you keep going further up there are tons of trails that lead off into the mountains. Only found them on my last day-wish I had more time to explore them.

Also, spanish people, especially the old ones, seem to have no spatial awareness and will cut you off on the sidewalk and then completely stop.
