They don't look brain damaged. They look like full grown adults who simply ordered their mood that night. Maybe it was separate checks too. Communal meals should be about a family with a head of family paying, or else everyone agreeing to split dishes.

As a child, mind you, my parents ordered a large won ton special soup (it had shrimp plus pork too), and the waiter ladled it out to all bowls. Then we'd split 2 mains such as moo goo gai pan, or mushroom egg foo young, or else a big sizzling tray of canton steak and a bok choy side. Sometimes with the grandparents with us, we'd get a giant platter of honey chicken. The point was, the children shut up and ate what was ordered for them. We had no vote for chinese night. As an adult, I wouldn't even try to split a dinner with more than one person. A spouse can agree nicely to split items two ways, or two items for that matter, but you don't infringe on controlling others. It's etiquette, not autism.
