The sky is blue. Most people who do Cancun are doing their once a year trip or once ever fly out of the USA because ~travel is so expensive~ and don't care for more than a booze cruise in adult day care. People are going for that reason prices be damned because they are either doing a package deal, don't actually research costs, or just assume "that's how much travel is see obritz told me I saved 20%!".

You can go on booking/hotels/airbnb book 2 blocks away and pay 1/3rd the price often, but you don't get the buffet, private beach lot, or unlimited drink options. Bongs do the exact same shit with Portugal.
