Nah, bullshit. If you go to Patzcuaro, Chichen Itza, or Zacatecas, you're just gonna get the same tourist experience thousands of other tourists have had over the course of many decades. I'm from Mexico and I've never been to any other Latin American countries, but I know for a fact that Mexico's got plenty of gay tourist traps and resorts for people who just wanna go take some pics to upload to Niggstagram, order overpriced mojitos, and listen to yet another fucking mariachi band playing "Cielito Lindo" or some other Mexican regional music classic for the gorillionth time.

You don't experience culture by being a short-term traveller. You experience culture by living in a place alongside other people and carrying out your regular routine (studying/working, having lunch at the same place at the same time for years, greeting the same people in the morning and in the afternoon from Monday to Friday, etc.)
