You say that, but I don't see how. Gear progression in 5e is usually just starting with chainmail and eventually getting full plate. But I've also seen games where the progression is even more linear where every character starts with basic leather and only eventually works up to full plate, so there's no reason you couldn't re-order those steps.
Unless you're talking about magical gear, in which case things like magic swords, winged sandals, and whatever else you can pull from Greek myth is perfectly serviceable within the bronze age.

Maybe, although I'm not sure how many groups actually focus on social complexities. Most tables aren't playing around with court intrigue, and even then it's not like backstabbing politicians was foreign to Roman politics. And that time period runs the range of everything from barbarian tribes to city states to massive empires.

I'm really not sure what you think is actually missing other than the sorts of random novelties that more modern or sci-fi elements that the other anon was talking about.
