Yes, that's my entire point.
If you want to have your nordic-fantasy game, then make elves actual ancestor spirits, not some humans with pointy ears you can fuck.
If you don't, then don't bring this argument up at all. Actual high fantasy elves have developed into their own thing and are in many ways removed from the actual myths. Some are more inspired by myths, others hardly at all. And again, even with the actual myths, we aren't entirely sure what these people back then thought elves really were. Gods, demigods, ancestor spirits, elemental spirits, bringers of good luck or diseases, little gnome folks etc.
Why the fuck should my elves in my setting be able to intermix with humans, when said elves are barely based on actual nordic myths?
