Depends on the person, but for the most part, yes. However, regarding some quick terminology. All wizards are arcane wizards. If you do not use arcane magic, you are not a wizard.
There is not a singular void god. There is the void, which is an entity, but there are many void gods. There is one Void, 20 void lords, hundreds of lesser void gods, and countless void spawn.
Regarding how normal people see wizards, most people don't. The average person never has met a wizard. Most are hermits, and rarely, if ever, need to go anywhere to trade, so most people have never seen one. There are of course rumors, but the common folk couldn't care less about their machinations.
Regarding their relationship to the Order of Pendragon: The wizards are arrogant, as is normal for them. However, they are very decentralized, so that is not a hard rule. However, consider this. Imagine, you have a highly intelligent person with a strong voice. They are almost completely isolated from people, live for hundreds of years (most is spent reading), and meanwhile, they are capable of near infinite magic, with almost no string attached (that they know of) as long as they do not screw up. Furthermore, laws mostly do not apply to them, because it is nearly impossible to find someone strong enough to actually enforce the law. Most of them have a borderline god complex. Meanwhile, for the Order. Imagine, you hunt monsters, and are required to have a near encyclopedic understanding of theology, magic, and monsters. Imagine if you had a person, who in all likelihood is extraordinarily arrogant and extremely socially awkward. You have almost no way of determining if this person can level a city whenever they feel like it, or whether they are at a danger of spontaneously combusting, until they begin casting their magic. You have almost no reliable way to kill them, and no way to determine their motivation. In other words, they are highly distrustful, and professionally polite.
Now, regarding void spawn and all that. Depends on the wizard. A competent one would need something strong like that to kill em. Meanwhile, a less competent one would probably be killed by a troll. Voidspawn is not a species, but instead more like an animal kingdom. It is the equivalent to saying you were attacked by a lizard. Could be tiny, or could be a dragon. Each void spawn is unique, so their strength varies greatly. Some of the strongest would require an Arch-Inquisitor to kill, and the weakest could be killed by a competent farmhand. In this case, perfectly believable.
