“We need to split up”. You said, glancing around. Most of the battlefield was clear, but plenty of places still offered cover for the remaining liquid. A nearby house? Sewer drains? And… more corpses? You shuddered, the memory of them rushing back to your mind.

“What?” Sora shouted, her voice hoarse from the coughing. You were unsure if it was because of her current wounds or if she was catching a cold. You both had been under the cold rain for quite a while, after all.

“Never mind. Come with me.” You placed a hand gently on her shoulder, guiding her as you moved. You leaned closer so that she could hear you over the rain. “My hearing is still not what it was. Can you use your sight or something to help me spot him?”

“I’ll try. Rain is fucking me up too somewhat, so don’t ya expect miracles.” Sora said while kneeling on the floor, her gaze scanning the are with full concentration.

Might as well play “bodyguard” while she scouted. Leaving her alone was asking for trouble, and at least you had some ranged options to keep you both covered. With your bow drawn, you charged it using the last remnants of fire Dust, enough for maybe just under a dozen standard shots.

Sora was completely focused. You couldn’t help but admire how she could switch to serious mode even when in the thick of danger. She was in critical condition, Aura almost depleted, most likely exhausted, under the rain and with an unknown number of internal injuries weighing her down. And she kept pushing on regardless. Sure, she was a rascal at heart, but when it mattered most you knew you could rely on her.

“I think I found him…” She narrowed her eyes, gazing towards a nearby street close to your right. You raised your bow, aiming in that direction. You felt that it was possible to overload an arrow with Dust for a much larger explosion, should you need that amount of firepower.

“Should I shoot?” You tried to focus your sight, but it was no use. Details in that direction remained blurry at best. The rain started to get calmer with each passing second, but even with a clear sky you knew spotting such a cunning enemy would be quite an achievement.
