You’ve known what’s been going on between them for many months now but just try not to think about it regularly; Tryph has essentially been stringing Vivima along, not quite romantically involved but skirting tantalizingly close to being so, just out of reach. And if there is anything Vivima cannot stand, something she will obsess over, it is a person that is beyond her she wishes to draw closer - she is still like that with you, always trying to draw you into her plots and plans, though business keep you apart more often than not recently.

In many ways, what you have asked Tryphosa to do, to manage Vivima, is cruel both to Tryph and Viv. Tryphosa was hardly innocent, but she strove to be good, stained by the hardships and realities of her father’s abuse but consciously choosing to remove herself from it as much as she could without forsaking her sisters. Tryphosa has always been manipulative and jealous, especially with her guards who she often resents, but she knew it was wrong on some level. Now though you have purposefully cast her as a manipulator, a temptation she has always felt but resisted, causing her to abuse her powers little by little. She teaches Vivima of newtypes, but has shepherded her away from an awakening, restrained her potential with little distractions, the right words here, a whisper in the ear or a kiss there…

“I do.” Vivima replies quietly, looking down to the ground in a way you haven’t seen her do since… well, probably since she was pretending to be Mink. This is genuine though, you’re certain of it. “And far more. But I know it isn’t safe, not with your sister. When it happens, I hope we’ll understand one another better - that is true for you too, Felix. What are you planning to say?”

…She still hasn’t answered the question yourself. Slippery Viv, she must speak like this without even realizing what she’s doing - A Zabi’s upbringing, but she in a way it is no different than yourself. With Tryphosa’s help you have realized something profound.

You are mirrors held up to one another, Vivima could have been your bond. She still could be.

That familiar timeless feeling is in the space all about you once more, and the time and distance that separates you from what could have been does not exist for a moment. Somewhere, many years ago, she pressed against a large door and listened to Degwin, Gihren, and Sasro discuss your father's heart attack.
