In my experience if an employer is big enough for HR to be a department, it just becomes a position for neurotic sociopaths to feed their hunger for power.

Setting up direct deposit is a one time thing and they only send the payment to retain ultimate control over your pay and fuck with people they don't like.

They usually know fuck all about them and someone from the insurance/bank company comes in to explain/sell you on higher tiers.

LOL maybe on race relations, which is partially how we got here. Your direct supervisor and the people you work with every day are doing most of the training. If you work on a manufacturing floor, HR is never going to step foot there, so how would they?
