I can't speak on behalf of this dying board, but I clearly remember negative threads for 10 years now. From poor production quality, bad panel gaps, ditching the LIDAR sensors to "save cost" even though cheep Chinese cars can still offer them, the predictable problems the Cybertruck's oversimplified wire harness + bad implementation of steer-by-wire, the long history of anti right to repair, the dozens of false advertisements of FSD, and false promises of pricing.

People complaining about these tariffs aren't all gay commie ñégros. Those who know some basic economic theory, understands that when you implement a widespread tariff, the new cost of an import product is what will domestic produces set their prices too. For example, imagine if a 1 pound bag of apples cost $10 before a 50% tariff. All apples that are imported will now cost $15. Because of this, domestic producers can increase their prices by $4 and still undercut the $10 imported apples. According to most studies, most business will not create new jobs with these new gains. But that's less important as tariffs are mostly used to protect a certain industry a country deems important, so it's usually specific and not broad to avoid price hikes. What Trump is doing is a bad call at the worse time. The American economy is dependent on consumption and historically the middle class provided that fuel. They're purchasing power was hit hard with the covid related inflation, and the last thing it needs is more policies that leads to more inflation. That said, I still voted for Trump in hopes he'll gut the CAFE standards. But I refuse to dick ride Trump and Elon for every action they take. The time for hard tariffs isn't now, especially when purchasing power of the middle class is at a all time low.
