I'm pretty convinced that people with poor spatial awareness only feel like they are going fast if they are driving towards a static object. The dude I destroyed tried saying we were not going that fast when in reality both of us were pushing 100+mph on curves and hills. But because the only object he could see was my car and it was traveling at a relatively similar speed, we were not going fast. Whereas swerving through normal traffic doing 45 when everyone else is doing 30 is "going fast" because you are going faster than the cars around you even if you aren't even doing highway commuter speeds.
