Why is /o/ like this? I see so much posting about how

>cars won't improve your life in any way
Yeah, it's a hobby that we all find interesting, and we accept that hobbies can be time and money consuming.
We also hopefully understand that materialism can't fill the voids in your life.
But what's the point of that discussion on /o/? You don't see people on /a/ or /v/ talking about how anime and video games are a useless waste of time.
Fun car ownership should be celebrated, but instead we have the the constant cynical posting of
>you probably got that car to as a status symbol, but you're in mountains of debt!
>you probably got that car to get attention from girls, but you're still an ugly loser!
I want to know what the reasoning behind this sentiment is, and why it's unique to car enthusiasts to drag each other down.
