I could accept this if it was done tastefully. Like how the Neo Zeon Sleeves add their decorations to their suits.

But like you said, the author overdid it and added way too much. I don't understand why the author is obsessed with making this related to UC Gundam? If he made it an AU Gundam, then he probably would get much lore support from fans. He probably could have gotten it animated by now. Maybe with a Built Fighters level budget. But with forcing it as a UC manga, it turns off a lot of fans from liking it. The design is too wacky for you UC. Like you said, it looks like a Wing Suit or G-Gundam suit. Or even Space Pirate Captain Harlock.
