Basically the equivalent of all those Nier Automata, Bayonetta, NIKKE, etc.
No, it's not a dark romance (so no rape, bdsm, etc.) , and it's for adults, not for young adults.
The scene that it got famous for was one where, after going back from a party with their friends, the guy fingers the protagonist in the Uber. Pretty average LA experience if you ask me, especially because everyone was completely drunk. But some readers thought that since the driver and their friends didn't consent to have basically two people fucking in the car, that book should be hated.
The book became basically a meme at this point. OP doesn't know it, because he is a faggot from /r9k/, but you can easily find fanfiction that is 10 times more smutty. If it wasn't for that scene, this book wouldn't have been so talked about.
As I said, it's like Nier Automata: you can find better porn games, but everyone memes about 2B.
