Technically speaking, Sherlock has lower class status than Shelon Cooper. Sherlock is a commoner in Victorian England, a notoriously poor one (and fundamentally uninterested in wealth and status), and lacking any connections to the nobility beyond rare recognition of his talent for their use. Meanwhile Sheldon is a well-off, middle-class STEMcel that rubs shoulders with Hollywood celebrities (or rather, their Comicon-attending subset) and literal Steven Hawking.

The status disconnect is a point in both narratives - how much of a gentleman Holmes is for someone who directly deals with crime and London's seedy underbelly, and how much Sheldon is of an embarrassment of a PhD-holding researcher and university professor.
