i think it's more simple than that:

the moment you think about any of this, it's clearly fucking bullshit. but they don't think about it. they're actively discouraged from doing so. having doubts about your faith is just a sign satan is creeping into your life, anon -- which is because you watch porn, and do a lot of other things that literally all of them do while pretending they don't so they can keep being part of the hivemind for their socioeconomic security

a lot of these people also have no real skills, nothing to really offer the world, no one thinks they're interesting for any reason - because they aren't - so they adopt this nonsense as a personality to delude themselves into thinking they have the adoration of others.
