That's actually way more complicated than you think. Going into the Coral sea there are some really nasty choke points on the way in from the north, and then the great barrier reef protects most of the east coast from anything with a draft of more that ~4.5 meters. You can go out wide and come in from the south but that's going around New Zealand which is very hard to bombard because it's all mountains, but very easy to launch aircraft from because of many valleys with predictable winds. You can go down the west coast of Australia but there's nothing there except desert and a couple of mines, invading the northwest coast of Australia is retarded, no water and scorching temperatures means you couldn't land more than a brigade and it would take a very vulnerable fleet to keep them supplied. Moving around the west coast and attacking from the south you wind up in the great Australian byte, the currents of which massively favour the defender who will always have the wind on any attacker from the west. And from the east, tasmania.

The only place Australia is really vulnerable to a major landing is the top end. In which case the attacker is as far as it's possible to be from Australia's industrial (victoria) and military (adelaide) core. You're landing in jungle and swamp, attacking over a vast arid plane with poor infrastructure, into mountains with great infrastructure, and you have to bring EVERYTHING with you.

The Himars isn't to defend Australian territory from the PLAN, that's what the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force is for. The Himars is for offensive operations on foreign soil, most likely as part of a joint force with British and American troops.
