Things to consider (these are all based off studies):
>criminals go for soft targets
>criminals don't like resistance
>criminals don't like raising suspicion
>criminals often spend 5 to 10 min in a house

These obviously don't apply to ALL cases, but it's the knowledge we have. Be weary about who you divulge information to as well; lots of victims know their perpetrators.

There's a video trying to prove a point how consumer safes are vulnerable. In the video two guys go up to an empty safe in the middle of a warehouse, knock it over, take two 4ft pry-bars and start prying at the right points and in less than two minutes they're in.

Scary, if you assume a few things:
>your safe is light enough to be easily tipped over by two guys
>your safe is in the middle of the room
>your safe is not lag bolted into a solid part in the floor and/or wall
>the criminals know where to pry
>the criminals have big-ass pry bars
>the criminals have the room and leverage to even be able to pry at all

All of this is to say:
>lag bolt your safe
>put it where leverage is difficult (e.g. if it's a left open safe have it in the left corner if you can)
>don't be too concerned about a guy with cut-off saw taking his sweet time

Basically make it too difficult to break into your safe.

But above all else, don't let your house be a target. Secure your home: reinforced doors, windows, cameras, lights, motion activated lights, sensors (opening, glass break), a threatening dog, etc. all make your house look like it's not worth it. Won't matter if your guns are secured or not if they never even get inside.
