How do you know 2hus aren't acting like themselves in fusu's works? Or any other work of similar type?
We know that Marisa and Reimu were flustered seeing an actual, romantic pair. Kokoro knows love enough to write plays about it, Aya can empathise with the characters' feelings in that play (although it isn't said what exactly made her heart skip a bit) and Hatate with Iku seem to treat romance of Celestial Maidens as an unprofessional fancy. With Kaguya's and Parsee's respective backstories tied to romance... This would be all? Have I forgot anything?
The point is, we simply don't know enough about romantic side of 2hus. If the work preserves speech mannerism of particular 2hu, subjects mentioned are within what she could talk about and she doesn't throw away what is important for her at the drop of hat, then I think all possible mischaracterising pitfalls have been avoided.
Unless you believe that none of 2hus would dabble into cutesy romance at all.
