One of my speculations on what set Yuugi apart as physically the strongest in a race of youkai that are already known for their physical strength is that she was the only one that bothered to develop a technique to beat other oni with rather than just mindlessly smashing as brutes are known to do.

Imagine seeing Meiling finally think she got the better of Yuugi only for it to turn out that all she did was force her to finally bring out her own martial arts. True shounen battle manga moment where Meiling has to get stronger on the spot or or quite possibly die. All while Remilia watches and thinks on how it is all going according to plan and how all of this was arranged to make her stronger so she could have the most powerful minion in Gensokyo.
