Muslims are the least violent and most vulnerable in Myanmar out of all the ethnicities. That's precisely why the Rohingyas are the most persecuted and maligned, and why the regime has never negotiated with them unlike with the others, and why they were the only ones arbitrarily stripped of citizenship in 1982.

All that doesn't change the fact that Myanmar's neighbors could have applied pressure on the regime and junta to change their ways and to give back the Rohingya's citizenship, if not them outright give armed support to actors. Boycotting and sanctioning Myanmar economically could have had the regime changing their ways across the board in how they dealt with all ethnicities and regions.

Thailand just deported 48 Uyghurs to China in February 2025 alone after holding them in detention for several years, up to a decade. The regime actively lied in the weeks leading up to it that they weren't going to. Previously, Thailand deported 110 Uyghurs to China in 2015 alone.

Human rights groups as well as the US have condemned the recent deportations. Thailand's regime and junta pretends to be a US ally but has been heavily allied with China since at least the 2000s, buying tanks, armored vehicles, missiles and military ships from them consistently. Thailand often does military exercises with China. Thailand and China are also working on a canal meant to bypass the Malacca Strait.
