No because you're already doing the division by using the word "an apple". What you meant to say is "2 apples are only one in reality" which is true, unless you take a human point of view that views apples as independent units.

Logic doesn't flow from your mind anon. Logic is a pattern that you observe or deduct, it's a mental construct. Logic only exists in the eye of the beholder, it is not created nor "sensed".

Our words serve to describe reality. In essence, there are no real "objects" but merely the corresponding labels attached to them. Each object, in its own existence, represents a pattern observed and essentialized by thought, and transposed (by many) into a certain word. By this logic, we can infer that there is no genuine concept or object, but only different arrangements conceived as such. Reality, to that effect, can only be divided into one or many. There can only either be "the" real, in which case we view reality as a whole, or a multiplicity of core tenets by which arrangements we find patterns extrapolated into words.

For instance, there is no "tree." There doesn't exist an object called a tree, but only its label and its corresponding criteria to fit this definition. Thus, every certain arrangement of atoms will be called a "tree" correspondingly to their positions relative to one another and the structure emerging from them.

In this case, if everyone suddenly stopped calling a tree a "tree," the "tree" would cease to exist, as it would necessarily fall into the real's greater categories. Words are only divisions of the real made by the mind, and reality is only unique in its object.
