kikeatel is wrong and on the wrong track since he's wrong on just about anything
mechanical tension and motor unit recruitment are all that matters, you don't stimulate whole muscles to grow, you stimulate muscle fibers to grow and only the muscle fibers that are active can get stimulated, and only during slow contractions which is what you get in a low-moderate rep range set done close to failure in a low fatigue state
