I mean this is objectively incorrect, rich people have historically always flaunted their wealth. Hell, aristocracy in Europe did nothing all day but party and wear eccentric elaborate clothes. This is not exclusive to Europe either, in every continent the rich have always flaunted their wealth, it is only extremely recently after the 18th century that the rich have acquired a more moderate attitude about it.

I work at a place where I see lots of millionaires. It's mostly boomers, some chinese and arabs visitors, politicians, etc and it's funny because they actually do wear Polo Ralph Lauren and Boss and their female companions, some of them are obviously their wives (some aren't) do wear designer stuff, like Chanel bags, Hermes Birkins, Lobutin heels, etc. Rich foreigners also flex their wealth a lot.

Dressing like a poorfag while being rich is only an Anglo thing, mostly American, nobody else does it really. I think the real poorfag brands are stuff like Loro piana but who knows.

People tend to project virtue into rich people, like inherent taste or grace to them but they are mostly just regular people with money and are prone to the same mistakes and lack of taste.

This being said if you are being mocked for 'wasting money' for wearing ralph lauren stuff which isn't even expensive maybe you need to get a new social circle
