I’ve made a similar device. What you need is
>a few AliExpress mini TFT lcd screens
>esp32 for controlling the screens
>rpi for doing the speech reception and interpretation (you could use the esp maybe but it’ll be suffering)
>a mic
>misc electronics shit such as jumper cables, soldering iron
>razor blade
>lenses (old vr cases for phones work) or a way of making pic rel (that’s complicated and I’m assuming you don’t want to do that)
>3d printer (optional but makes shit a lot easier)
Then:
>peel the reflector off the back of the LCDs so that they are semi transparent
>print an enclosure that positions the vr lens offset from the edge of the glasses with the lcd on the other side (the lens should sit between the lcd and your eye). You may need to stack multiple screens to get a good pic
>use whichever tft controller lib for esp to put random text in it
>connect the esp to the rpi (id use Bluetooth but you do you; BLE sucks for beginners but I like it)
>use whichever whicher tts package you want on rpi (ie RealtimeSTT) and have it send via your preferred method to the esp32 (via ble this would be a send signal of each word end sending the last 3-6 words depending on screen space)
>power it with a battery pack
>get ready to look like a fucking asshole as you’ll be dripping with cables and 3d printed junk
