You know I've never though of that, I guess you are right, 14 is a magic number in Manga and Anime a character can look barely older that a child or almost an adult depending on the anime and artstyle.

Maybe artist degeneration has something to do with it too, you need to be good at anatomy if you are going to have a transformation scene like that I doubt many people can do it this days.
