Loving little children (or their proxy buyers, the moms) looking for a funny, inexpensive novelty gift for Father's Day or Dad's birthday. Of course they're impractical, but Dad knows it's the thought that counts.... and he'll make a big show out of using the claws once or twice, probably while growling like a bear, to the kids' laughter and delight.

Soon enough, the claws be relegated to the back of the junk drawer, and then probably a box in the garage. But every once in a while, Dad will find them and have a sensible chuckle while remembering those halcyon days.

Eventually, the adult kids themselves will find the claws when cleaning out the garage for the estate sale, and hopefully remember how much fun they had wrapping the gift, the anticipation of Dad opening it, and the squeals of delight as Dad pantomimed a wild animal while shredding the family's slow-cooked pulled pork during one of those Saturday summer BBQs in better, simpler times. At that point, they'll probably get chucked in the garbage bin, but those happy memories were certainly worth $10 of Chinese plastic. Amazing, how such a cheap, ridiculous and simple thing can accrue such meaning, but... it can.
