LOL. I worked at a startup company that got a shitload of awards for its products. 99% of these "international prizes" are complete scams. Let me tell you how this works:

1. your company buys a booth at an industry exhibition
2. every fucking industry magazine is also at the exhibition
3. every fucking industry magazine runs its own "best of show" prize thing
4. your company pays a fee to the magazines for their prize competitions
5. the magazines throw around prizes galore under a dozen different award types so that unless you entered a literal pile of dogshit, your company's product will get one of the "international prizes awarded"
6. your company can then advertise the "international award" on its website as proof that the product is totally awesome.

Our marketing guy used to laugh his ass off about that stuff.

Which is not to say that my company's products weren't great or even a little innovative, they were, and in fact I do think we had the best of the industry, but the awards were a joke. Anyone could buy one for their product.
