i honestly don't understand how btc is anything other than debased dollars with extra steps. If the dollar is being debased (which it is), the value of the btc likewise falls due to inflation. dollars in = dollars out, right? If inflation continues to lower the purchasing power of the dollar, even if the "value" of your btc increases, the purchasing power is still tied to the falling dollar. It honestly feels like btc is just a pool collecting dollars that would otherwise escape the system through hard assets like land, precious metals, real property, or maybe even some foreign markets. I agree with your argument that everything in the world can be debased, I just don't understand how btc would be an exception. fwiw, i also have btc, but in my mind it's just another hedge against this failing dollar. I want to believe that it's somehow outside the system, but can't get there logically. willing and hoping to be wrong here because I've hodl'd for years. You can make money with crypto, totally agree, but it's being debased as we speak, as we're trading in dollars.
