A female being somewhat uncomfortable for 30 minutes is not nearly as bad as animals killing each other over resources. Most beloved pet dogs would be killed and later eaten by birth-to-death feral packs that have only ever known violence.

This is why i cringe when people say "but dogs do it to each other" re: dog training. Yeah feral dogs, coyotes, and wolves learn to be insanely violent animals. If you think the cats would eat us if they were bigger meme is funnay you havent seen the stories of feral dogs and captive wolves eating people including caretakers. Teach violence = receive violence.

Pitbulls, german shepherds, rottweilers and other fighting/guard dog breeds were literally bred to be senselessly violent, sometimes worse than a wolf. People thought it would make them safer but they bite thousands of innocents for every criminal they merely make nervous (or make google "best dog poisons"). the original guard dog was meant for a bronze age man living in the middle of nowhere.

The best dogs are the ones lacking guarding instincts like sighthounds, samoyeds, huskies, and malamutes. Just watch out for undisclosed wolf and GSD DNA added by working line breeders to make them bigger and longer lived.
