You’re aware that on Facebook, you can select what public can and cannot see in your profile, including friend list ? You can even be specific and select a specific user (you) will be unable to see his family profiles. And he’s most likely done the same for his family too, he can make it so his family members are unable to see (you) on his friendlist.
