The air in the department office was somber. They didn't want to do this, but they had no choice.

"Shirogane, you're the only one who can solve this."

Naoto nodded. "I do not relish this, but I appreciate the trust you put in me. I will be the one to bring Rise to justice."

She gazed at the newspaper article in front of her on the table. The headline broke her heart. FORMER IDOL HIJACKS FLEET OF DONUT TRUCKS.

It was inconceivable. Why would her friend do this? There was too much she didn't understand. Rise wouldn't just do something like this for no reason. But that was just another reason why Naoto had to be the one to do this. She had to find out why.

She turned to the door without a word to her fellow detectives. She pulled her hat over her eyes. She wouldn't be back until she cracked this case.

Several months passed without an update. No one had heard from, or seen Naoto at all. Until one day, the detective strode into the office once again.

After she dislodged herself from the doorframe, anyway.

"Huff... puff..."

Naoto took a moment to catch her breath. It was something she did with alarming frequency. She had a lot of bulk to carry, after all. She was at least three times the size she had been when she had last visited this office. Her trademark blue jacket was stretched to its limits, wrapped tight around her heaving stomach. The buttons were one false move away from bursting off. The seams of her pants were literally holding on by a thread. Her white dress shirt had popped open and was revealing a vast and imposing trench of cleavage. She was nearly unrecognizable from the slender girl who had left to solve this mystery.

"I... regret to report that I have failed to solve the whole case." Naoto pulled her cap down, leaving her puffy, soft cheeks the only part of her face visible. "I managed to track down Rise, but unfortunately, by the time I got there... URP." She stifled a particularly loud belch. "The donuts had... umm... disappeared."
