All the while my connection is shit in the mountains and my bank is closed state side so they blocked my transactions trying to get other tickets. Ended up calling embassy in Tokyo who said American airlines is a fucking liar and set me up with airlines that are operating. Silver lining was American airlines refunded me the whole trip and not just the flight back. But boy, did that absolutely start a panic after being in a state of zen for the day.
