You don't need "saves". The type of danger and how your players attempt to survive it give you all the information you need. For example, to avoid a dragon's fire by ducking behind cover a character would need to be fast. Slamming a heavy door shut to block the fire would require strength. You'll always have some attribute that covers these situations in your game. What are you worried about? That you're gonna forget an entire category of attributes? It's not happening.

In this instance you can just use Scale. Poison gases are rated dosage per body weight needed to for a mortality of half, anyway. Everyone has a Scale implicitly, you don't need to think up an attribute to roll against poison gas. Of course, you can have constitution as an attribute, hold breath as a skill (ascetics could also be used), or resistant to poison as a gift if you want to. You can even give a +1 for being ex-military and recognizing the smell, no formal levels needed.
