Maybe its just me but I don't assign malice to that many actors. I think people like MTG and Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz are unironic creatures of darkness. I think most other Republicans are stuck on a rollercoaster they can't get off of - whether it be because their electorate is completely captured or they know they'd lose all semblance of influence if added to Trump's shitlist. I think that's made evident by just how many Republicans have jumped the Trump ship in the past two years.

Well, they're both. They're the victim and the perpetrator. Right now we're watching them be devoured by the monster they created. They had every opportunity to abandon Trump - on the campaign trail, after his first impeachment, after his second impeachment, after his attempted coup. The allure of power was too much for them to resist, now we're watching the consequences.
